The name of this cocktail says itall; The Firecracker Margarita … but then add to it Craig LaRotonda‘s illustrated version, and things really start to heat up…some like it HOT!!
How do we get hot? Simple, the Jalapeño pepper, which is a medium sized chili pepper. These little suckers have a 2,500 – 8,000 Scoville heat units. Compared to other chilis, the jalapeño has a heat level that varies from mild to hot depending on cultivation and preparation.*
So make sure you pick according to your (or your guests) preference before selecting a pepper.
